Two Centre-Backs In. One Out?

In the last few days we’ve added two new centre-backs – Tal Ben Haim (on loan) and the New Zealand youngster Winston Reid – to the squad. Makes me wonder if one is on the way out, namely Upson. Apart from the loanees/short contract players that were released at the end of the season, we’ve yet to sell anyone in this window. Now that’s just not like West Ham at all. 5 players in, and nobody out? Shirley there has to be someone leaving before the window closes?

Apparently Winston Reid has a Maori heritage. Maybe he can teach the squad to do the Haka. Now that would make for better pre-match entertainment than the usual fare. It would certainly get the crowd up, and look a lot less gay than the group hug.

Last pre-season match tomorrow, v. Deportivo la Coruna. Should give us a good idea about what Grant thinks his starting XI will be and what tactics we can expect. I just hope we get through with no injuries. Not going, will be trying to catch a barbel or two instead.

Edit – we’ve signed another player. When will this madness end? Although this is another loan, for all the coming season. The player is Miralem Sulejmani, a winger currently on the books of Ajax. Don’t know anything about him.
