S*** or Bust

It’s squeaky bum time now, as our Premier League survival comes down to the last three games, while we are rooted to the foot of the table following yet another defeat at Man City. We will probably need to win all the remaining games to stay up – a very tall order indeed.

Yet, despite defeats at Stamford Bridge and Eastlands, there are at least some encouraging signs. At the Bridge, we made life difficult for Chelsea and if Keane had taken a chance when clean through, we could well have taken a point from that game. Instead, Torres made the game safe for Chelsea when he scored his first goal for them (why do West Ham always do that?).

A very poor opening 20 minutes or so against Man City that cost us two goals meant that it was going to be difficult to get anything from the game, but at least we showed a lot of fight once Grant had changed the formation, bringing Boa Morte into a central midfield position. Demba Ba pulled a goal back just before the break, giving us some hope. Despite having a lot of possession in the second half, we didn’t really create many genuine chances, Da Costa’s header being the only effor that really challenged Hart.

I can’t see us getting out of this now. While all three remaining games are winable, it’s going to be tough to actually pull it off. We need to be creating – and taking – more chances than we have been in recent games.
